The Bato Bucket (also known as the Dutch Bucket) is an efficient drip irrigation system and is extremely suitable for larger, long-term crops such as vine tomatoes, peppers (capsicum), cucumbers and even roses. You can use just about any type of growing media, including expanded clay pellets, perlite, and coconut coir.
Bato Buckets are suitable for drip irrigation systems. The overflow outlet can be connected into a central 1-1/2-in PVC drainpipe. The bucket has a highly effective internal discharge system. By installing the two elbows, the overflow water is suctioned from the lowest level of the bucket and discharged into the central drainpipe. This will eliminate the pooling of stagnant water. The Dutch Bucket measures 12-in x 10-in x 9-in (LxWxH). Dutch Buckets are made from food-grade polypropylene.
Dutch Buckets is considered one of the most common, and the Hydroponic setup used for this type is also known as [Bato buckets or Top Drip". While the system could be applied to grow plants in-doors, it is more frequently related with outdoor commercial use. Inside huge greenhouses, the top drip arrangement is planned with feeder lines and a base reservoir. Periodically, a pump forces the solution upwards through small tubing that trickles out from each plant.
Many different types of growing media will work well in a Bato Bucket , but It recommends the use of ag-grade perlite because of its wicking properties and good airflow around the roots of the plants. The plants are fed or fertilized by the Bato Bucket custom designed Nutrient Injection System, The source water (your well water, cistern, rain water, etc) is injected with concentrated nutrient solution from the two fertilizer concentrate tanks and pH adjustment from the third concentrate tank and then on out to the Bato buckets through the feed plumbing. The plants are fed on scheduled intervals based on the season and the maturity of the crop. We can design a feed regiment specifically for your crop. The commercial Bato Bucket System includes a Nutrient Injection System and the feed plumbing from the Bato hydroponic Buckets including the feed lines,spaghetti tube, pressure compensated emitters and the barbed stake guides, dripping the nutrients directly to the roots of each plant.
